About The Dragonfly Transplant Fund
In early 2016, Deb Brown of Cedar Rapids was patiently awaiting a liver transplant that she and her family thought may never come. Within five months of being placed on the liver transplant list, her health deteriorated at a rapid pace. Her liver disease was affecting her everyday life to the point of five emergency trips to the hospital.
In November 2016, Deb and her family received a call that a liver had become available for Deb to receive. After an 11-hour procedure at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic's (UIHC) Transplant Center, Deb had a new liver and a new life to live....and give.
Deb and her husband, Ed, have ignited passion in others and established the Dragonfly Transplant Fund through a generous gift. While Deb has passed, she has lit the torch to continue serving transplant patients and their caregivers for many years to come with the support of the medical professionals at the UIHC Transplant Center through the Dragonfly Transplant Fund.

I had the opportunity to meet Ed and Deb Brown in 2017 after Deb's transplant. I was immediately moved by their desire to give back and immense gratitude that they felt for the entire team that cared for Deb during her time at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics; their list of the people who mattered to them ranged from surgeons and other physicians, to nurses, technicians and housekeeping staff. I have continued to be moved by the generosity they have inspired in others toward their goal of creating a new dedicated space for transplant patients and their families, as well as their willingness to be community advocates and champions for the transplant program at UIHC. Thank you, Ed and Deb! Alli Ingman
