Choirs for a Cause

On Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, Liberty High School in North Liberty, Iowa, hosted the 2025 Choirs for a Cause. This show choir performance showcase has been a tradition in the Iowa City Community School District for years. Each year, the funds raised support a local non-profit. This year, Dragonfly Transplant Fund was the selected recipient of the entertaining fundraiser. A total of $2,975 was raised for Dragonfly through this event!

Judy Schell-Duncan with the Liberty High School choir department shared at the event that the Dragonfly Transplant Fund was selected because of a personal connection to transplant in their choir. Liberty High School has a student who received a kidney transplant at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Organ Transplant Center in 2024.

During the Choirs for a Cause event, Liberty High School invited representatives from the UIHC Organ Transplant Center, including Dr. Alan Reed and Dr. Lyndsay Harshman, and the Dragonfly Transplant Fund to participate in the evening. Dragonfly volunteers hosted an information table in the lobby outside of the performance space the night of the event.

A portion of the money raised from admission that evening was donated to the Dragonfly Transplant Fund, totaling $2,975.00. Thank you to Liberty High School and the Iowa City Community School District for supporting the Dragonfly Transplant Fund through this incredibly special event!
