Dragonfly Transplant Fund Announces 2026 Deb Brown Memorial Scholarship Recipient
The Dragonfly Transplant Fund is proud to announce David Dohrer, Transplant Financial Coordinator at the University of Iowa Health Care Organ Transplant Center, as the recipient of the 2026 Deb Brown Memorial Scholarship.
Established in memory of Dragonfly co-founder Deb Brown, the scholarship honors her unwavering commitment to supporting transplant professionals whose work directly impacts the lives of transplant recipients, living donors, and their families. Deb believed that education, collaboration, and compassion were essential to improving the transplant journey for every patient. This annual scholarship continues her legacy by helping transplant professionals pursue educational opportunities that strengthen the care they provide.
David recently used the scholarship to attend the Transplant Financial Association Conference, where he connected with transplant financial coordinators from across the country, learned new strategies to support patients and families, and maintained his certification to ensure he continues providing the most current guidance to those navigating the financial complexities of transplantation.
Reflecting on the experience, David shared:
“My ‘why’ has always been and still is that I want my patients to focus on their health and recovery and let me work through the insurance and finance part. Yes, insurance is important, but if I can reduce one stressor, let it be that.”
His dedication reflects the same servant-hearted spirit that defined Deb Brown's life and work. By investing in professionals like David, the Dragonfly Transplant Fund helps ensure transplant families receive knowledgeable, compassionate support during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
David will be recognized during the Dragonfly Transplant Fund Golf Outing & Fundraiser this August as we celebrate his commitment to transplant care and honor the lasting legacy of Deb Brown. We are grateful for David's passion for serving transplant patients and proud to support his continued professional growth through the Deb Brown Memorial Scholarship!
