On Monday, February 15th, two of our volunteers with the Dragonfly Transplant Fund, Ed Brown and Jack Blong, visited the UIHC Transplant Center to share a special Valentine's Day brunch with the employees. As a thank you and a celebration of their hard work in 2020, Ed Brown donated a boxed brunch to 50 staff members on behalf of the Dragonfly Transplant Fund.

In their recent newsletter, Iowa Donor Network announced "a record number of Iowans transformed lives through organ donation and transplantation." They reported that over 100 Iowans donated over 300 organs to recipients across the state. For more information, please visit www.IowaDonorNetwork.org. As our volunteers with the Dragonfly Transplant Fund start fundraising in 2021, we are excited to announce that the new gift card program is finally underway! Ed Brown, co-founder of the Dragonfly Transplant Fund, has generously donated 550 $5 gift cards to Bread Garden Market to transplant patients and their families as they stay at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics' Transplant Center.

In partnership with the UIHC Transplant Center, Ed Brown, co-founder of the the Dragonfly Transplant Fund, is excited to announce the Dragonfly Transplant Fund's new gift card program starting January 1st, 2021.

Logan’s Law, named after Logan Luft, was enacted in 2019 and allows hunting, fishing and trapping license buyers to declare as an organ, eye and tissue donor, when purchasing hunting and fishing licenses, very similar to declaring when purchasing or renewing a driver’s license.

Due to the rainy weather forecast, the 3rd Annual Dragonfly Transplant Fund Golf Outing & Fundraiser has been RESCHEDULED for Tuesday, October 13th, 2020. Our committee of volunteers plans to honor the same schedule of events as originally planned.

We are officially one week away from the 3rd Annual Dragonfly Transplant Fund Golf Outing at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside, Iowa! We are so excited to host this event for the 3rd year. Without our AMAZING team of volunteers and our sponsors, this annual fundraiser would not be possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting the Dragonfly Transplant Fund.

Last week, we received a donation with a very special letter included. Thank you to Logan for thinking of us with the Dragonfly Transplant Fund. Your donation means so much to us and the lives of those we hope to improve over the years ahead. 

According to a report in The Gazette, "a total of 92 Iowans had authorized donating 290 organs for transplant this past year, according to the Iowa Donor Network, the state's organ procurement organization, ... The Iowa Donor Network also reported a total of 929 tissue donors in 2019."

“With Deb’s passing this spring, the perpetual torch has been lit - the Dragonfly Transplant Fund will live on into the future! If nothing else, it has been fired up by the support we have received during this difficult time for our family, friends, and supporters. With focusing on helping the families and caregivers of transplant patients, the effect on the overall program will only improve from here. The founders of the Dragonfly Transplant Fund, Deb and Ed Brown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had a special reason to celebrate on Sunday, April 12th. Not only was it a very special Easter, but they were celebrating their wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary, Deb & Ed!

Ed Brown will be contacting all registrants this week. Your registration will be applied to the newly scheduled date.
